Frequently Asked Questions About My Editing/Proofreading Offer
To answer some Frequently Asked Questions about my editing offer, currently available only until the end of September 2020:
What’s special about your feedback?
I can claim to have no competitors because my feedback is based in my unique story methodology as described in my book How Stories Really Work and elsewhere. When I say ‘unique’, I really mean it: outstanding, extraordinary; without equal, unparalleled, unmatched, matchless, incomparable. (This isn't boasting, just technically correct because there's nothing else like it.) Though some editors and story specialists have touched upon some of the ideas contained in my book, there is no one in the world who understands stories in quite the same way.
And it’s not just a ‘weird new way’ of looking at fiction which is somehow esoteric or impractical — far from it. The secrets of storytelling from the world’s first tales all the way down to modern movie blockbusters are contained in it, in a way which is completely accessible to both new and old writers. Just read some of the five years’ worth of testimonies — my book has never had less than a five star rating and has transformed the way many writers view their own work and that of others.
So when I look at your fiction, rest assured that you’ll get feedback you simply won’t get anywhere else — feedback based not on someone’s opinion, but on the working principles that lie behind all storytelling.
What do you mean by ‘payment plans’?
I try to work out payment plans tailored to an individual's situation. So, for example, if you had a 50,000 word manuscript that you wanted me to process, but you couldn't afford £500.00, I would suggest sending me the manuscript in 10,000 word segments and paying me £100.00 each time. The only drawback with that is that I wouldn't be able to make overall comments on the whole manuscript until I had viewed the last segment — but progress would be being made, perhaps over several weeks or months.
A short story of 5,000 words would cost £50.00, which should be affordable in one payment.
What if I’m not quite ready by the end of September?
Get in touch. If you make a downpayment and we can come to an agreement, you might be able to secure this deal beyond September.
Is the deal likely to be extended?
At the end of September, I will review how successful this has been in terms of my own business and also for helping writers achieve their goals. It’s likely that my process will return to normal at that point (i.e. double what is stated in this deal), but the deal may be extended. The key thing to do is get in touch so that you can secure the deal in either case.
How do I pay?
Payments or instalments are payable in advance to my PayPal account. Once the funds are confirmed, I can confidently schedule the work.
In what format is my work sent back to me?
Usually, I send work back as attached Word docs, with proofreading changes marked in red and detailed feedback on the piece either in an email or attached document, depending on the length required.
Can I secure these prices long term?
If you want to hire me as an editor or mentor for the longer term, then get in touch. Longer term clients benefit from special deals pertinent to their individual situations. I strive to make editing and proofreading affordable to writers.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
