Key Moments in My Comics History 5


Collecting comics, especially Marvel comics, has been a passion since about the age of 5. There were many milestones and many memories. One of the most pronounced was this cover showing the first appearance of the Vision, hauntingly drawn by the legendary John Buscema.

Though Paul Bettany was a good choice for portraying this character on-screen in The Avengers 2, nothing quite captures his power to transmute from ghost-like phantom to hard-as-diamond edifice like Buscema. I wonder if he based the classic pose on this famous Avengers cover on Jack Kirby's original Vision drawing for Timely Comics back in the 1940s, shown here:
