Routes for Writers, Part 2: The Publication Pathway
In yesterday’s article, I described the Learning Pathway which Clarendon House Publications has set up for new and established writers, a route beginning with the free e-book Your Biggest Challenge as a Writer and progressing through the new 7 Secrets of Successful Stories and the popular How Stories Really Work to the extensive author training course How to Write Stories That Work - and Get Them Published and beyond to professional beta reading and editing services.
The other route open to writers is the Publication Pathway.
This begins with the Inner Circle Writers’ Group, which is a forum for discussing writing and related matters, in which hundreds of new and established writers share their publication news and encourage each other to submit work to various places. It's a cure for 'writer loneliness' and a great place to 'hang out' as a writer. The 'write place to be', if you like.
It continues with the forthcoming Inner Circle Magazine, which will give many writers the opportunity to publish short stories, articles, news, artwork and other things each month, and where the camaraderie of the group will spill over into a new arena. Stand by for forthcoming announcements about the magazine and how to submit (and subscribe) to it. I hope it will be the world's most exciting writers' magazine.
Then come the Clarendon House anthologies.
The last few months have seen the publication of nine group anthologies, plus (at this writing) four individual anthologies, with more in the works, open to members of the Inner Circle and others. That equates to over one million words and over a hundred authors published in less than a year. That’s a series of tremendous venues for new and established short story writers.
But it doesn’t end there.
As you may already know, each group anthology has a competition in which readers vote for their favourite stories. Winners get the opportunity to put together their own collections.
The winner of the competition for Flashpoint: The Inner Circle Writers’ Group Flash Fiction Anthology 2018 was R.A. Goli whose book Unfettered was published a couple of months ago, and is available here:
The competition for Galaxy: The Inner Circle Writers’ Group Science Fiction Anthology 2018 was won by Alexander Marshall, whose collection Prism is taking shape.
Brent A. Harris, whose anthology Twilight of the Mesozoic Moon & Other Time-Twisting Tales is currently awaiting my attention, won the contest for Storm: The Inner Circle Writers’ Group Fantasy Anthology 2018.
The votes for Vortex: The Inner Circle Writers’ Group Literary Anthology 2018 favoured David Bowmore who is in the editing stages of his collection The Magic of Deben Market.
Liz Murphy, currently working on her anthology, won the competition for Window: The Inner Circle Writers’ Group Children’s Anthology 2018.
And Shawn Klimek won the Carrier Wave: The Inner Circle Writers’ Group Comedy Anthology 2018 competition and has started to put together his own collection.
Recently, Julie Eger won her collection by winning the contest for Cadence: The Inner Circle Writers’ Group Poetry Anthology 2018.
The big difference for these writers is that royalties will be paid on the sales of each of their own books.
2019 is going to be on a whole new scale, with the publication of another set of anthologies to which you will all be invited to submit.
These will include the following working titles:

Paradox: The Inner Circle Writers’ Group Crime/Mystery/Thriller Anthology 2019
Lantern: The Inner Circle Writers’ Group Christian Stories Anthology 2019
As I say, these are working titles at the moment. They may change. It’s a distinct possibility that more will be added.
Due dates will be announced in the near future.
So the Publication Pathway offers writers as many chances as possible for their work to be received and read by readers, all the way from discussing ideas and opportunities in an active group to publishing a book for which they will receive money based on sales.
This route, coupled with the knowledge and wisdom gained from the Learning Pathway, means that Clarendon House now offers the most comprehensive package for writers anywhere in the world.
